yes, recycle the cardboard. One year the train misplaced one of my duffels that had my roll-up table in it along with my tatami mat for my front door. . No Problem! I just gathered some cardboard boxes and had a table as well as a front door mat. Live simply and stay green!!

what a great suggestion about the uses for cardboard! especially for those of us flying and trying to save on weight for travel. colleen--did we meet at the naked workshop last year? i think so, but not sure. definitely going to return to that workshop. wonderful. scary for some, but empowering and self-esteem raising for all. just a plug as it was one of the most powerful experiences for me at fest last year.

ej - there are "community fires" but not for cooking, unless you count roasting marshmallows. You can't have an open fire at your camp site. You need a camp stove or grill to cook on.

Not that I couldn't....I don't want to live without.....

1) my 8x14 tent - it fits my full size bring your own bed on one side and I have the other side for getting dressed standing up or to put a chair inside on rainy days.
2) a flannel blanket for the floor, nicer to walk on in your bare feet and makes for easy cleaning of the tent, roll it up take outside and shake.
3) a large tote bin, transports all my bedding and becomes a side table for the lamp and a place to put my glasses.
4) tent heater - turned on just before bed takes all the dampness out of the bedding
5) my dining tent - a place to store my chairs if it rains, a folding table for my water jug and assorted stuff, my junk food bin, cooler.
6) one of my faves - a kitchenette (a counter/dish shelf/utensil rack/stove shelf that folds down to a suitcase.
7) the most important - my french press coffee maker, I am a snob when it comes to coffee, I need decaf but I enjoy a dark roast so I bring my own.

My friends call me the diva camper because I bring absolutely everything, if you see my site on your walks, come over and say hi.
