I have been thinking about this for a while. Just for fun, what is the least amount of stuff you could bring to fest and still be independent and not borrow from others. Less Stuff/More Festing
Shelter Stuff: 8x10 tarp Clothesline for tarping and hanging clothes tent stakes plastic drop cloth for shelter bottom fleece sleeping bag pillow case - stuff with items for pillow
Clothes: 2 sarongs or 2 pairs short and 2 shirts - wear one/wash one no underwear (2/3 if you must) no bra thermal pants/top/socks in case it gets cold crocs or flip flops toothbrush toothpaste shampoo - use for hair/body/washing out extra clothing comb diva cup with ziplock and handy wipes bandana for towel or small camp towel
Day/Night bag: Dish/spork/soap/cut up sponge empty water bottle for camelling up at the spigots. bandana for sitting on or cut small plastic from drop cloth or just sit on the ground or vinyl table cloth small bug spray small sun lotion emergency rain poncho or light rain jacket small notebook/pen safety scissors for cutting rope/plastic (can be left at home if all items are cut beforehand) prescription meds small led light for finding your way back to campsite cash/ID/debit/credit card
Luxury items: Drum/Tamborine Costumes Extra clothing

if I was going ultra-light/minimalist, this would be my gear list: Shelter Stuff: 1 lb. 15 oz. Ultralight Backpacker Asym hammock http://hennessyhammock.com/articles/ult ... ckpacking/fleece sleeping bag Clothes & Personal: 2 sarongs fleece zip up hoodie 1 pr socks in case it gets cold (no underwear or no bra) my crocs brand sandals (not flip flops so I can wear socks under if needed) toothbrush toothpaste (travel size) small re-bottled container of Dr Bronners (for hair/body/dish washing) small hair brush dish sized towel for drying off Day/Night bag: bag - thin nylon sports type to carry on back gallon sized zip loc (to hold my program!) 30 gallon garbage bag (can double as rain poncho and to sit on for night stage) Dish/spork/cut up sponge empty water bottle 3 anti-bug towelettes pen Excedrin pocket led flashlight cash/ID/debit/credit card Luxury items: feather boa extra earrings cloth napkin mascara :)

A feather boa? Interesting........ what color?
I forgot deodorant on my list. A must have.
I am not much on going commando, but would if I had to chose between my drum/tambourine and undies I would leave the undies at home. I like the Hennesy idea too, but for a poor gal a tarp will do. Of course this is just for fun.
Super ultra minimalist list: Toothbrush & sarong ~~~but would not meet the requirements of being independent without borrowing stuff. It would however, make for an interesting fest experience. haha

LOVE these lists. Actually they give me great ideas for cutting back on my gear.

ok let my list get a bit more lean: (changed items in red)Shelter Stuff: 1 lb. 15 oz. Ultralight Backpacker Asym hammock http://hennessyhammock.com/articles/ult ... ckpacking/ microfleece sheet (no zipper)if "pillow" is needed, wrap plastic garbage bag around crocs and then wrap sarong around thatClothes & Personal: 1 sarong really ... who needs 2?? (skip fleece zip up hoodie. instead, use fleece sheet as evening wrap)1 pr socks in case it gets cold (no underwear or no bra) my crocs brand sandals (not flip flops so I can wear socks under if needed) 14 toothpicks with brushy end (instead of toothbrush and toothpaste travel size)small re-bottled container of Dr Bronners (for hair/body/dish washing) small hair comb (instead of brush) (skip the dish sized towel for drying off and dry off with the sarong or the warm sunshine)Day/Night bag: bag - thin nylon sports type to carry on back gallon sized zip loc (to hold my program!) 30 gallon garbage bag (can carry everything in and also as rain poncho and to sit on for night stage) Dish/spork/cut up sponge empty water bottle 3 anti-bug towelettes pen Excedrin mini pocket led flashlight cash/ID/debit/credit card Luxury items: feather boa extra earrings cloth napkin mascara :)

This thread is awesome! A close line is def more compact than packing 8 outfits. I kind of don't own that many clothes any way, and so only have a couple of pairs of jeans I really want to take and wear. I can drape the clothes over paracord instead of using clothes pins. I just hope it doesn't rain four days straight! If it's warm enough, I go naked in the rain. I need my tennis shoes though. I walk A LOT, even in my daily life so sandals would NOT work for me. 9/10 times I just walk instead of waiting at one of the drop offs. Convers get pretty compact though, luckily. I have some blue astroturf left over from another project I can make into a 'sit apon'. I'm getting all kinds of ideas from this thread.
Is there anyone who flies with only a carry-on and no checked baggage? I'm starting to think it's possible...

I love this thread. Strategies I have used in the past include: putting all my gear in a pile and seeing how small I can make it and setting out all my clothes and the letting my girlfriend tell me what I actually need since I always bring more clothes than I can wear!

I've never taken a towel for showers. Always used my sarong and showered in the sunny part of the day. My one splurge is a terry washcloth - yes, I know I can use my cotton scarf, but there's something about the feel of terry when washing off.

As fest is drawing near, I have to constantly revert back to the ultra minimalist list. I want to fill my car up with stuff I really don't need. Well, maybe just a few extra luxuries to make my week in the woods more pleasant.

I have a large car (Intrepid) and I fill it, the only camp gear I don't bring is my pots and pans (since I am well fed). I look over my list....nope....can't leave anything behind. Sorry lol this thread is not for me haha. If you ladies need anything, come see me, I will have it all!!

Wow- love the minimalist idea. MY OCD was flairing up looking at the "regular" list. I traded a mid-size car for a subcompact and although going solo, being a festive virgin- I could obsess over this stuff. I actually started making my pile, albeit very neat, about a two months ago! Thank you- my new found crazy womyn friends!
