Hi. I tend to get cold.I feel too confined using a sleeping bag, so last year I used polartec on top of my air mattress and as a sheet, with another polartec on top of that and topped that with a quilt. Though I cover my bed with a piece of plastic during the day, it still gets damp. What type of bedding do other gals use? Ideas please! Roar

It's your air mattress. They suck up the cold like nobody's business. I went back to my Thermarest, and am much warmer now. Love the polar fleece too; it's the best.

I like a nice piece of wool cloth for warmth.

tried it. both on top and underneath. Also tried fleece under. Thermarest with a memory foam layer on top, and I sleep like a baby.

A Thermarest wouldn't work due to a back injury. I use a bed on a frame because i have a really hard time getting off the ground. I do have an eggcrate foam mattress that I could put on top. Will that help?

I should think you'd be fine in your bed, topped with even a thin thermarest and a couple of eggcrate foam mattresses, with your fleece blankets to top off the ensemble. I even have an eggcrate foam I could bring you, if I can get it in the suitcase... REally, tho, I encourage you to get comfy without the air mattress... I swear that's why you get so cold...

Clothing can help. I generally sleep in fleece socks, long underwear, gloves, a scarf and a stocking hat. Except when it's warm, naturally.

There are some new, really thick (3") Thermarest mattresses out there. Pricey, heavy, but really good for back trouble. You can set one on a folding cot, instead of an air mattress. LLBean had one called a camp futon....Thermarest has the DreamTime (or something similar). Big Agnes has a memory foam kit of some sort. Look for the R value in the description. If you look around on Overstock.com, they sell memory foam toppers pretty cheap. A 2" king size topper, folded in half, is really amazing. (They usually charge the same price for any size topper, so a king size is the same as 2 twins.)
