- here I sit middle of the day, watching womyn's BB, retirement is hard.

- Trixie I have the labels and envelopes all ready for the womyn that won a copy of your fabulous planner.

- here I sit smelling a lot of onion and garlic, having just put on a pot to simmer and soup for dinner.

- the Sanford - UCLA game was a nail biter, love that kind of game. And I am not a big fan of brawling, refs need to be consistant.

- Still mulling over Ohio fest, will contact the coord.

- I heard Pat Summitt interviewed on NPR last week, she is fierce as always.

- Regarding traveling with instruments, TSA takes apart all cases, so keep that in mind. I have only traveled with my golf clubs in a hardcase and found them all jumbled up with a note saying they had been inspected.

- Perhaps this will be the year I surf, just depends on the status of my knee and my confidence. So, Trixie beware, if you are near the stage that night I may pass overhead.

Red - I mailed your planners yesterday! And yay crowd surfing! I love watching and helping all my sisters crowd surf!

If anyone is interested in your very own planner here is the info:

PLANNERS FOR VIRGINS! I am once again selling these lovely planners by donation to help virgins get to fest! This year’s virgin is my best friend Kimmie – we've been friends for 23 years and I've finally convinced her to come to the Land!

These magical planners feature a page for every fest day, broken down by hour, with the day’s lunch and dinner on each page. The line up is on the first page for easy reference, and there is a detailed map of the Twilight Zone in the front cover so you can find your way to our awesome parties if you are interested! I use my planner to write down all the shows and workshops I want to attend BEFORE I sign up for workshifts so I never miss a thing!

Planners are available by donation (ANY amount helps!) – you can use PayPal (chirper77 AT excite DOT com) or send a check, etc, through snail mail. Email me (chirper77 AT excite DOT com) with your address and how many you want. THANKS FOR HELPING A VIRGIN GET TO FEST!

**These planners are completely designed and produced by me, an OCD Virgo festie, and are not in any way affiliated with the fest office or producers**

Also the covers this year are PURPLE and have a lovely spiral fern goddess on them!

Woo Eeee! What a win! Great BB!

Ironic, if I am remembering correctly this is the last year ND will be in the Big East.

Trixie hope you get a few more orders for your planners, I am boosting them every chance I get.

I am not a good fit at the senior center. These are contemps, but we must have aged on different planets. It appears to be my role to scandalize them all.

RL is out on the trail, just in case you missed it.

Red, the idea of you terrorizing the senior center has me laughing out loud. :)

planners planners planners!

Once we raise the money for Kimmie's ticket I only have one problem: I want to ride to fest with both Kimmie and my lady since they will both be virgins this year, but idk if we can fit stuff for 3 of us in one car...plus the supplies for my party (and trust me, they take up a lot of room). oooo! Does anyone have a vacuum sealing system?!? That would help with my party supplies lol

-That was another great game. Now if only someone on ND could grow five inches in the next 2 weeks.
-yes, ND is leaving this year and i think Rutgers departs in 2014. What will become of the big east? it's hard to believe Uconn will stay in it much longer
-i read the Summitt book, hoping just maybe she might speak a little about negative recruiting and charges of "lesbianism" in programs and the effects these have on programs and single womyn's coaching careers. I didn't expect the topic to be covered, and understand why she would not want to address it publically, but if anyone could possibly send a positive message about equality, who better than Coach Summitt? We're just not there yet in womyn's sports. And at this point in her life, she should not be the one to take on the heat.
-it's a good book, though. Worth reading. i especially liked that she talks a fair amount about coaching psychology.
-are you new to visiting the Senior center? You never know; people can sometimes surprise you once you get to know them better and they trust you. I've met some older and younger womyn in the past who looked as stand-offish and judgmental as they come who turned-out to be wickedly funny rebels with great stories to tell. (i do admit, though, it always seems to be my peers in age i find the hardest to become quickly comfortable around.)
-i still can't see applying to work this summer, but you all are making me seriously think about attending for the week.

- From a totally selfish stand point I would be happy if you came for the week Wrinkles.

- I have a very dear friend, my oldest friend indeed, that has come to fest and bares it all while there (Hell she was on day stage topless with the Topp Twins). She is an athletic director at a major college in NYC. She tells me it has changed for coaches. I spoke at her civil union ceremony this past year and all the ushers and parking attendants were current students. A lot of her players from her years of coaching were there too.

- I do not live that life, so certainly I am not an expert, but it has changed. It has changed and in my lifetime, amazes me. I look forward when it is a moot point, don't you?

- Got to get a copy of Summitt's book. Now that I am RETIRED, I have time to read, just in case you missed that I am RETIRED.

- I am hoping you are right Wrinkles and I will find a few friends in the crowd at the senior center, but really I am pretty busy so will not be spending a lot of time there. They do have a nice poolroom, as in pool tables, so that may be where I spend some time.

- Planted basil and eggplant seeds for transplant later, better late then never. I am hoping for pesto sauce this year.

- Selling Stella the RV as soon as I get a halfway decent offer. A festie sister would get a deep discount and Stella is in great shape. Contact me if you are the least bit interested, I might even deliver.

- In other news dropped my Y membership after 20 years, joined the park center closer to the house. I am inciting mutiny among the workers, but that is a long story about a towel. Love the new pool and easy access, closer to home.

- Sent off an email to the Ohio coord earlier this week about crew. Plenty of time to plan for that fest, one way or another. Bethsnewlife I most certainly would love to catch up with you there in Ohio. I was thinking of taking my pop-up, but really to save gas I will probably tent it.

- It is so beautiful here, that I have doors propped open to get a breeze through the house and whisk away the closed up winter smell. That said I need to get back to sorting and sifting stuff.

1). After a rough day at work that involved lots of STIs and cheating boyfriends, I returned home and found a LOVELY Trixie's Festival Planner waiting for me. It made my day significantly brighter.

2)Men are pigs. Lying, cheating pigs I re-discover this every single day at work when I meet their cheated-upon girlfriends.

3). The lady and I came across a homeless woman last night and gave her food. Then I immediately felt guilty for not offering her a place to stay.

4). I often wish the BB was easier to access on an iphone, as I don't have a real computer.

5). Nefarious Ohsnap and crew will be visiting next week---my entire household(including the cats) is quite excited.

6). I'm sending in my first ticket payment today. If our budget works out as planned(and barring any financial disasters) we should both be able to pay on the higher end of the scale this year.

7). I miss posting on the BB. I should do it more often.

8). Not to get all Crazy-Lady-Who-Loves-Talking-About-STIs on you, but I think we are starting to see some drug resistant gonorrhea here. I've been tracking everyone who has it and their geographical locations. Very fascinating.

9). My straight coworkers are fascinated by Fest. I don't think they would ever attend but if they did it would blow their minds.

10). I've had a headache for two days solid. I hope it goes away soon.

Wrinkles who do you think is going to take it?

Just finished Pat Summit's book, teared up a couple of times. I am just nine days older than Pat and I have been following her career a long time. I clearly recalled several of the games she described. And I played various sports previous to Title IX, then briefly after my Navy discharge. There was a dramatic difference while I was off the field for four years.

-Well, i can't help but root for Tenn. and beating Uconn 4 times in one season is asking a great deal, but i think Notre Dame is the best over-all team left and after all these years of excellent, exciting play i would love to see Skylar Diggins finish her college career with a NCAA championship. (I picked Duke before the season to make it to the final four, but i don't think they can beat the Irish tonight without their All American point guard.) Which team do you pick? Also, just being curious, if it were up to you which announcing duo would you want to call the final game?
-Jackie Stiles scoring record lives!
-That Baylor game was something. Not the best reffing job but Louisville out played the Bears. I hope somewhere in Kim Mulkey's post game comments she found the awareness to congratulate the Cardinals on how incredible hard they played and phenomenally well they shot the ball. And considering the type of player she was and coach she is, Mulkey would have to admire the scrappyness and fight in Shoni Shimmel. (i can't really feel too sorry for Baylor as far as how physical that game was. The Bears are a VERY physical team and there were no calls all over the court Sunday. In the second half, it looked to me that the refs tightened up on Louisville much more than they did on Baylor. Plus, where was their perimeter defense? Too many of those threes were poorly contested shots. Louisville's tallest player is 6'2'' and the bears are plenty quick so Baylor should have been able to guard outside better than they did. Though, i hope Tenn. will be ready for the screens tonight. If Sunday's game is any indication, the Louisville players set/use them very well.)
-so far the 95-96 Vols would have to be my over-all favorite team and championship run. Probably not the best talent-wise, but they just absolutely would not give up.
-i'm glad to hear what your friend had to say about how things have changed for women in coaching. That issue was on my mind because not too long ago i read an article talking about the rise in men being hired for coaching positions in women's sports and the author spoke about some AD's being concerned about negative recruiting tactics when they were considering whether to hire a man or woman.
-yes, the differences are incredible. I passed the book on to one of my nieces who plays softball so she could get an idea of how much has changed in sports for girls and women since title ix. Most young women that age i worry have no idea how important government legislation like that was and can be in their lives.

****TOTAL BB DERAIL****

– I agree with your appraisal Wrinkles; it is ND’s to lose. And I understand wanting TN to take it, they are my sentimental favorite.

– Considering how many recruiting violations Baylor committed I am just glad they are gone.

– That and I am so glad Jackie Stiles' record stands. About as glad I am I got to see her play so much here at home.

– Yeah the reffing during the Louisville game was herky jerky. The Louisville players put it all out there like they had nothing to lose, what a way to win, 16 three pointers.

– I favor the TN 97-98 team, especially since I got to see them win in Kansas City.

– Had I not been down south visiting Disney with the Grands I would have been over in OKC for the regionals. The regionals are the best bang for your buck. And every time I have gotten to go to one I saw the eventual overall winner.

– With Title IX came enough money to attract male coaches, but some have been there long before. And unfortunately Mulkey had a hand in negative recruiting tactics at Balylor, makes me sad and pissed. I will ask my friend about her thoughts about recruiting tactics when next I see her.
