I've been going to MichFest for 15 some years. Then I had my first little girl and camped in my regular place off Jupiter Jumpoff - some call it Juniper near Holly and Erin, and with my Mom Louie. I have decided after two yrs of that it is time to move near other mom's. I now have a second little girl who will be coming with me. So I have a 5 yr old and 2yr old girls.
Bc I have to move I will not have my regular "support" and friends to help me, so Im actually bringing a friend (Festi Virgin) to help me and moving over near Gia and Sprouts. I am excited to meet a new group of Womyn and the festival will definitely be different for me.
This will be my 5yr old first time in Gia and my 2 yr olds first time in Sprouts and my first time with two children.
Im looking at family tents right now! Not sure what to get yet - any suggestions. Im also trying to figure out the best sleeping to keep us warm at night. We will all sleep together - Im thinking air mattress with down comforter? Any thoughts. I remember the Air matress can get cold sometimes but I would just put my at that time two yr old with me in the sleeping bag and we were fine. But now I have two girls and we all wont fit in the bag not to mention the girls move a lot, - so I might break down and bring a memory foam to place in between the sheets?ANY TIPS for coming with children is great! Especially bc I have one in diapers still.
Thinking a porta pot with bags and kitty litter for the girls for the morning or late night emergencies. I admit I used a couple of her diapers when she was asleep and I HAD TO GO but had no one to monitor the tent in case she woke while I was gone. LoL...
I have a really good idea of how to camp at the festival and it was pretty easy with one little girl but now a little nervous with two.
I have briefly meet some amazing mom's in the passing but its been two years I haven't attended bc I just couldn't get the nerve up to take a new baby and toddler by myself to camp with.I would LOVE to set up a time to meet with other Mom's and perhaps camp near some of you.
The person I'm bringing has NEVER been
to Festival so I'm a little nervous about how much help she will really be. Im a little concerned about her getting sick bc she has an unusual diet so I'm asking her to take advantage of this forum and gather info bc Im not trucking in a large cooler of food.
I am excited someone lent me a double stroller - I initially thought of bri9ning my double Radio Flyer Wagon but realized its useless if one or both girls fall asleep. Im a little nervous about the strollers wheels not being large bc the sand can be a pain in the arse with wheels but hey its free so we will just have to make a go at it.
Ive decided to have basic dry snacks for the girls and organic meal drinks at camp, but most of our food will be from the kitchen. Ive also decided I will bring some back up green disposable plates and utensils for the days the 5 yr old and two yr old are not patient enough to wait for the plates to be washed.
Again any tips on how you other Mom's have survived with multiple small children would be great. Im already thinking about those days it can rain and how to keep them entertained in a small space. LoL..
Most of All Im looking forward to a new experience for myself and girls at the festival so please feel free to connect with me.
Im coming from Ohio through Indiana.
