yup, I know it's only January, but with all the talk about gas prices going up (therefore plane and train prices go up too) I just secured my tickets on Amtrak for August 2012. Anyone else get their plane or train tickets yet?

Hi Tropidyke! Interestingly enough, I bought my plane ticket yesterday.. (IS IT AUGUST YET???)

I am particular about the flights I want..nonstop from Newark to Grand Rapids and my ticket this year cost me nearly $200 LESS than last year, YAY!! I guess the timing was right. 2012 will see me on a VERY tight budget, so I took advantage. I don't think I will get a lower fare, so I took the chance. I still have a farewatcher set, but I think I got a good deal.

Hmmm. I flew last year for the first time in quite a few years. Seeing this post inspired me to check fares. I know they bounce around quite a lot, but the fares this year for my flights are almost $150 more than I paid last year. I'll keep checking until I make decision -- probably around May -- but that certainly makes driving look better.

Sisters,
if we work together on transportation we can have low cost comfortable buses to carry our items & selfs to fest...

i have done a lot of research over the last 3 & half year & have found out many helpful things about buses, bus companies & have found 2 bus companies who have outlets in several states that many michfest sisters come from...who will give good service & friendly people to work with & yes they have women drivers...

by using facebook, we can build a chat area to know one another as we work towards getting our selves & other sister to land...

this project will not only save you money, ease your travel worries, build on land community off land it will give your aching heart a feeling of Hart...

we can network with one another as we plan our routes ,stops & pick up cities...

most buses hold up between 47-57 people ,they have tv's,dvd players,pa, stereo overhead compartments ,most have 3 large bays under storage,a restroom, some buses neal down for easy entrance /exit while some have lean back seats & tables...

why keep spending way more money to the man when we all could spend more money on land?...

Helping the festival, performers, vendors & oursleves by spend our hard earned Wimmin's money & supporting who we love WIMMIN....

i realize many of you find my bad spelling & wondering thoughts a pain or the "whole scandle" made you question my motives ...

well my motives are simple ,easy & community based.

the same passion the wimmin in Radical Harmonies have, is the same passion i have for this project...

think of How many of our local wimmin's lives would change if We networked & booked buses to come to land...

the POWER & MIGHT that would come back from fest,Would make GREAT CHANGES in our home towns...

by working together we can use "sub projects" to help pay for the buses ...

just by Recycling our drink cans , taking truck loads of cans to be weighed using funds for a down payment for the bus... *which is most likely a $200.00 deposit & full payment 15 days before leave date..

hosting house concerts/potlucks as we work on our michfest themes, costumes & plan our at site parties what a great way to make friends, have fun & get thru the winter ,while explaining how Work shifts & recycling are sooooooo IMPORTANT & how these aren't just jobs they are ice breaking ,community building friendship starters...
sharing on land stories with sisters who may never been to land...

don't ya think talking about your pile would be much more fun with more wimmin than just ourselves or our partner ?
.

Bus drivers can only go 10 hours a day so for longer trips would need more than one driver...how that works is one drives the bus while the other drives to a "meeting spot" then switch....

for those sisters who would like to RV ...

how about Rv share?

by splitting the cost with other sisters you can have a softer bed with out dread, the bus could drop yall off at the RV Dealer & pick you up before we sadly have to come home...

we could meet at a camp ground the night before fest set up then all go see Jamie & Nedra spending Supporting Wonderful Performers who have taken time to host a pre fest show...then back to the camp ground for a night of rest or pre fest chit chat...

since we would be well rested, we can sleep in comfort on the bus in the line for those who stay up late ...

***we would work out with the michfest office how they would like to handle the buses, though buses are no wider than rvs that line the rd way... ***

just think we would be the hit of the line getting to know wimmin who have to pee... helping keep our land cleaner, healthier while helping our in need.... bladder kin ...

my 2 year in a row michfest traveling companion & i love chatting about all the wonderful things we saw,did & sadly missed or didn't get to do, what our work shifts were like & how much fun we had & what will we do for next year...

just think how Healing/Powerful this would be, with a bus load of sisters sharing stories, pics & memories while showing some of our treasures we bought with the extra funds they had from a lower travel cost ...

once home you will be able to connect through the net & since many sisters would be local or semi local we would all feeling/being/knowing of EMPOWERED making more off land space that will feed the hunger we have once we leave land...

it's up to us to keep our sister spaces going & with gas, air, train & plane travel going up, we will sadly lose sisters to this major problem that will keep our community, culture & tribe from thriving...

if you/we are worried about our festival culture being taken over ,or not Being at all... then WE Must Work Together to Insure We Don't lose Our HOME & WE Always Hear WELCOME HOME!!!!

Women's Support
Becoming Our Own Role Models

There was a time where women stood together in a bond of sisterhood, women supporting women.

As women embrace the fullness of who they are as individuals, they may find themselves supporting other women, helping others to reach the level of inner comfort and outer freedom that they themselves have found. Among those who are less sure of themselves and their place in the world, it may be more common to criticize other women than to seek their help. But there are things that a woman can only learn from another woman, as there are things about being a man that can only be learned from other men. We all recognize that we have much to learn from each other regardless of gender, but sometimes we could use a supportive role model that gives us a more precise example of what and who we can become.

There was a time where women stood together in a bond of sisterhood, women supporting women. It is only natural that the pendulum swings out of balance for a while so that we may have the experience of what we do not want. It is up to women to bring the pendulum back into balance and bring back the sacred sisterhood we yearn for at our core.

If we envision a world where women support each other and help each other find their place in an ever-changing world, then we can become the change we want to see. Jealousy, envy, criticism, and judgment are refuges for the insecure. As we help others to become self-assured, we create a world in which all people help each other, regardless of gender. Only women can make the change in how women are seen and understood, not just by other women but by the world at large. The way we speak about each other to other women and to the men in our lives informs everyone to treat us with the respect that all women, and all people, deserve.

Savvy,
im glad you found this an "Inspirational Quote" i meant to post it here

"There was a time where women stood together in a bond of sisterhood, women supporting women"....

this bus project is a wonderful way to give the gift of community to wimmin who may have never been to land or for those who can't afford plan, train or car transportation...

"If we envision a world where women support each other and help each other find their place in an ever-changing world, then we can become the change we want to see"

i can envision how this bus system can bring more Amazons to land while being able to spend more money on land...we are each others cheerleaders & i admire the wimmin who have come before me paving the way for womon's community, & their passion ,drive & community love has given me a passion, drive & community love for my rainbow sisters so we can get to land & build our safe sister spaces off land...

"It is up to women to bring the pendulum back into balance and bring back the sacred sisterhood we yearn for at our core."

by getting a bus system running we can not only go to michfest but other fest as well...filling the yearning we as festies all have...

im covering the cost of transportation to midwest wimmin's fest, from cape girardeau ,thru st louis, so hop a ride to midwest & see how this bus system will bringing our womyn's tribe together highway wide

"As we help others to become self-assured, we create a world in which all people help each other"

Seeing Solutions

Worry can manifest itself within your mind today, prompting you to focus on pessimistic predictions for the future.

Your thoughts will likely revolve around hypothetical situations that may or may not come to pass in your personal and professional lives.

However, in concentrating on your worries, you may inadvertently be attracting negative circumstances and repelling positive opportunities.

To quell your anxiety, you may need to remind yourself that no one knows what the future will hold and to reconsider your situation in a more practical context.

Ask yourself what you can do rather than focusing on what you can't do, and you'll likely begin to feel that your destiny is once again yours to direct.

Today may be the day you develop a more optimistic outlook regarding your future.

When we divest ourselves of worry, we free up mental energy that can be put to good use conceiving of practical solutions to the issues we must face.

Most people are plagued by worry at some point in their lives and many find it utterly debilitating.

Worry can interfere with our ability to think clearly and to view our circumstances realistically.

Letting go of the panic and anxiety we feel enables us to regard our situations in a pragmatic light.

In doing so, we become able to see courses of action formerly blocked by our intense emotional reactions. We are then more apt to turn our attention to matters affecting our lives in the present.

You'll empower yourself to be a force of change in your life today when you let go of your worries.

Bunny, the Daily Om's are great they speak to me deeply ...i didn't even think about adding the "credit" it came to me as a Aquarius Daily Horoscope sorry ill keep that in mind for next time...thanks... here is what i was thinking/feeling when i read it... hope all is well with you... can't wait till Aug...

"Seeing Solutions"

about transportation : is & should be a major concern of all wimmin who attend fest... keeping our womyn's space alive & thriving during this time of economy decline, by making transportation affordable we can share the love of land with other wimmin who long to find home, these bus systems will also create a feeling of land off land "

when we walk off land we lose so much in our day to day lives that we get from the magic of fest & worry sets back in... these opportunities of Sisterhood within our own communities are often missing from our lives making our off land lives feel dull & lack luster...

"Worry can manifest itself within your mind today, prompting you to focus on pessimistic predictions for the future."

by networking together in our city, towns & states we can lose some of those lonely feelings & worry that many of us struggle with daily...

" However, in concentrating on your worries, you may inadvertently be attracting negative circumstances and repelling positive opportunities."

by using the tools we learn on land we can stop worrying, stop being lonely & share the gift of life we feel on land off land & feel the Aug sun in our everyday lives...

"To quell your anxiety, you may need to remind yourself that no one knows what the future will hold and to reconsider your situation in a more practical context."

to stopping the anxiety about how to get to land, how is my gear going to fit, & how can i afford my fest ticket & still have travel funds,or losing our fest to unwanted guest ect...

all these issues will be addressed & solved as we plan together affordable bus routes while watching, feeling & knowing the light of sisterhood is being shared/passed as we bond together while getting to land ...

" Ask yourself what you can do rather than focusing on what you can't do, and you'll likely begin to feel that your destiny is once again yours to direct. Today may be the day you develop a more optimistic outlook regarding your future. "

what can we do to keep land thriving & not be tired from driving, while affording a trip of a life time?

"When we divest ourselves of worry, we free up mental energy that can be put to good use conceiving of practical solutions to the issues we must face."

1.call area bus companies see how much it will cost for a round trip booking ...

*some bus companies aren't lesbian friendly so watch out for those companies*...

(though i have found 2 that have outlets in many of the states fest riders come from so i can give you the # & links if ya like so yall can contact them yourselves)

2. use your facebook, myspace to networking with sisters you know & wish would come to fest, by offering a affordable ride most likely they would come because the cost would be more affordable, if they didn't come they could help by passing word of fest online or by coming to the community potlucks or house concerts that could help raise funds for the bus while bring the community together while supporting performers.... (gaining a feel of what womon's spaces feel like & what our music sounds like)

3. by working on ,off land problems like, lack of sister spaces, lack of community , we can find solutions together making our trip to land stress free & more care free...

" In doing so, we become able to see courses of action formerly blocked by our intense emotional reactions. We are then more apt to turn our attention to matters affecting our lives in the present."

this will happen because we have built a stronger, supportive network of sisters who will & do share the love of land & long to hear Welcome Home...

"You'll empower yourself to be a force of change in your life today when you let go of your worries."

this force of change will not only be within you, it will be within our local communities... Empowerment will help our tribe as a whole & it will also help michfest keep going/growing another 37+ years...

if we address what is blocking our communities growth we will start "Seeing Solutions" that will keep us as wimmin growing changing, moving forward as our womyn's culture, womon spaces our sister tribe Rises weaving rainbows in the sky...

Daily Horoscope

Confidence in Conviction

A strong-minded outlook may plant itself in your psyche today, growing eventually into an attitude of poised confidence.

Any self-doubt lingering in your soul will likely dissolve, leaving behind a sense that there is no task so great that it falls beyond the range of your talents and skills.

You may feel driven to take on more responsibility in your workplace or to begin taking control of your domestic situation with more care and thoughtfulness.

As your small endeavors meet with success, you will likely be inspired to undertake larger and more complex challenges.

You can make the most of the fact that you feel highly capable and qualified today by scheduling time to address the more difficult goal-oriented tasks you may have been avoiding.

Self-belief is a necessary component of success because it provides us with the motivation to gladly face the more challenging aspects of the goal-realization process.

Those who distrust themselves and are uncertain where their capabilities are concerned have difficulty moving beyond the limits of their comfort zones, fearing they will find themselves overwhelmed by adversity.

The more confidence we have in our own abilities and talents, the more responsibility we are willing to take on. We don’t shy away from circumstances unlike those we have encountered in the past.

Rather, we embrace the opportunity to explore worlds that are unknown to us.

Your motivation will never falter today when it is bolstered by copious self-assurance born from internalized belief.

hey Ask ,

how ya been,is the new year treatin ok? let me ask ya whats in your pile & whats your fav part of festival???

im glad ya ask these questions because there are several things that need to be done in order for this Wimmin On Wheels Project to be rolling down a highway near you...

by organizing using facebook & other ways that i have addressed in above post...

we can network & pin point where rides are needed,as well as give us a common project to pre bond us ...having on land feelings off land making our sister hearts beat as we form the sisterhood we long for that we all share on land...

i invite each of you who wish to find out more on How YOU Can Help Wimmin get to Land through several fb video chats...

this round the web cam chat will help each of you who truly care about land the whole layout of this project...

Ask let me ask you...

does Lisa V give away the next years stage performers list as we drive out the gate No ...Why??? only revealing small glimps of what the next year will bring... the waiting is what makes Us form fourms over such Important questions, issues while helping sisters with their get to land needs ..checkin web pages , watch the bb for clues ...do you????

when the pics of land start poping up we are glued to fb waiting for the pic of some Wonderful Womyn laying the lines, pipes & bringing us hot water to wash off our path dust & chat with our sisters while we shower with sisters we don't know...

( though let me ask ...) is this a off land event we would normaly choose to share with our sister with out a care..?) only in michigan ...even by the end of the fest shy shower sisters come out from behind the curtain..

hearing the sounds of land can you hear them??? http://soundcloud.com/jeniferbaldwin502 ... st/s-qQLoH

the facts are: Theres Magic Here....

by working together like we do in our workshifts we can build a Wimmin On Wheels Bus line for affordable roundtrip prices helping not only michfest but other festivals stay alive in a world of deciline...& the main reason we should work on this womon's to land project is ....We Are About Wimmin....

Ask you ask great questions i enjoy our banter...keep askin your questions../until we speak again as we both wait till we can walk topless safe in the hot michfest sun... ( whats your fav ice cream?)

My name is Rosie & a friend and I will be coming to Michfest from Central Florida in an RV. We'd love to share the ride, just pitch in for gas. We have not mapped our route yet, so it's up for discussion. As womyn join on, it will help plan the way. Last year, we went from Florida, through Georgia, Kentucky, Tenessee, Indiana then Michigan. We arrived before opening ceremonies and left just after the closing ceremonies. We can discuss whether we drive straight through, or stop each night and rest. There's plenty of storage for gear. We also have room for one to three womyn to sleep in the coach during the festival. Drop me an email and we can figure it out. rrosierain@cs.com Just put Michfest in the subject line.
