Okay this is funny all this talk about why to pee in inside the tent! But for those of you who use the ziploc, it seems like it would get messy from the pee being all over the inside and then you open it... I guess if one is careful to keep hands on the outside of the bag... Just wouldn't like getting pee on my hands in the process. Sorry for the graphics but trying to decide whether to use a ziploc or my usual quart plastic container. Ziploc much easier to travel with, but worried about messiness.

I agree with you Stillfire! My vote is still the container! :-P Just my personal opinion, of course. (I have a porta potty thing by Coleman. So, I guess my opinion don't count! :-P lol)

Yeah, to me, the zip lock bag sounds potentially perilous.....

For the record, I use a laundry detergent bottle with the spout cut out. Use, empty in the Janes, rinse, repeat.

Large take-out soup container is still my first choice - right size, tight lid. Used to be yogurt containers, but now their lids don't fit tightly, darn!

Different take on in-tent peeing.
Disposable chuck pad.
Spread it out. Squat. Pee. Wad it up and tie it in a plastic grocery bag. Throw away in the morning.
Not the most environmentally sound, but good for those with poor aim.

If one cuts out the inside part of the spout, the lid still screws on fine.

some have removable spouts that pop out, too.

I take a quart tupperware type container. they have tight lids. At the end of the week I toss it out.

Need light in the janes at night? Prop your flashlight in the TP bin pointing up. Presto -- both hands are free and you can see.

brought a nice size piece of that 'weed cloth' for the front of my tent. It is a real keeper on my camping list now.

I have seen a lot of things on here about dampness inside tents. I have camped for many years and my current tent is virtually meshless when the windows and doors are closed. It can cause a big problem with moisture from breathing all night. I usually unzip the window just a few inches and have rarely had a problem with moisture.

This year was my first at the fest, and my first camping trip alone. I did make an error in not trimming my ground cover to be slightly smaller than my tent, and I was on a spot where the water flowed when it rained. I also apparently had a seam leak so ended up with water pooled under my air mattress. Even with the water there, the open window at night kept the moisture from condensing inside the tent. As soon as the rain stopped and the tent dried out, I sprayed all the seams with sealer, so hopefully, I will not have the same issue next year.

Also, my camping trick for lighting the inside of the tent is to use a small lightweight led flashlight and just hang it off to one side facing downward. It provides enough light to do whatever you need to in the tent, and if you keep it within reach, easy to turn off when you are ready to go to sleep. If you like to have a bit of light when you sleep, try one of the glow sticks or rods that can be found in any party store.
