Ah the end of the world party...we had a fairly decent turn out. I ate many jello shots and was nice and wasty pants. Although I had a headache the next day which was annoying since we went to see the Hobbit. My best friend and her husband came over for the party and that was awesome since I only see her every few months and I never spend a lot of quality time with him. They also know everything about the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, so they were excellent movie going companions.

I would have loved to go to Red's party...just too far away for me :( I'm glad it was awesome!

So my serious business lady IS serious business - it's facebook official (as of New Year's Day)! Every day I am more and more amazed at how amazing and awesome and incredible she is. One exciting thing - she had never seen The Office (which is one of my favorite shows) so we started watching it and she LOVES IT. Now she texts me Office quotes! And she's getting very good at the "That's what she said" game!

Oh oh! And my cousin/sister/festie/friend Katie met her last weekend and really likes her, which is very important to me and very good.

And we're already making epic fest plans!

So besides work being really annoying right now, and my on-again-off-again lactose intolerance flaring up, I'm pretty damn happy :D

1. I am a big big fan of Trixie's serious lady! :) I also heartily approve of her and Trixie's Office addiction lol.

2. Long time no post! About time I come Home, at least virtually, and for a minute.

3. New things in my life: bought myself an iPad! It's making my life so much easier.

4. Also new: I got promoted to store manager at the sub shop I work at back in October or so. It's been crazy, but I'm starting to feel like I've got my feet under me, at least for the most part. But being 21 and having no previous managerial experience has proved to make this quite the crash course in running a business.

5. I'm interpreting "The Vagina Monologues" on campus this year! I'm reeeeally excited about it, but it is a LOT of work. As it turns out, an entire show is a lot to take on for a first time interpreting lol. But, honestly, I think it's coming together pretty well. If any of you are in the Bowling Green, OH area and are interested in coming, you absolutely should!

6. My brother, sister-in-law, and I all went in together to get my parents family pictures for Christmas this year. It was a lot of fun and the pictures turned out really good. It was nice to get to surprise all of them with a great present; It's fun how the tables turn as you get older. :)

7. It was really good to get time with my family over break. It was nice to reacquaint myself with my roots.

8. At the same time, I'm finding it more and more difficult to navigate the space between the person I identify as today and the person my family sees me as or remembers me as. I also found it hard not to butt heads with some of my family members on our ideological differences, which was disheartening. But I love my family and was thankful for the time regardless.

9. Classes started up last Monday. I thought about going part-time this semester bc of everything else on my plate, but I ended up compromising and taking only 12 credits, which is still way fewer than I've ever taken before in a semester, but it's the minimum credits to qualify as full-time. 2013 is about taking care of myself and improving my professional/academic work ethic.

10. I hope all of you had a wonderful New Years and that 2013 is off to a good start! 201 days, my sisters.

IT'S SO QUIET!!!

My tire exploded. Luckily I was just in my parking lot and was able to get back into a spot. My exhaust is also super loud right now. I'm hoping the work maintenance guy can fix all of that today.

My lady came and picked me up at work last night since I'm car-less. She's awesome like that.

191 days!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

i am excited that you will finally be able to come Beth... your enthusiasm shows.
I am trying to get there this year, through the generosity of my sisters... i am sure they will provide. we have such a magical and wonderful family
try posting on a new thread to find mommas that has their kids out of school a few extra days for fest, think you might get response more quidkly that way.

anyone living in or planning to be in the san francisco bay area on saturday, march 9th should know there is an event that is going to be NOT TO MISS... we are having our not so annual big gala Midway to Michfest party at the El Rio bar. I have been busily working on this with two other women since november and it is going to be a blast. we expect about 200 womyn from all over the country. I know some from midwest and east coast coming, not sure about any international though for now.

LIVE Music Dance, Comedy and more... by Gina Breedlove, Shelley Doty, Tina Banchero, and more... and maybe a few surprises on the day of the party even.. who knowsl lots of musicians are in the bay area and you all know how hard it is for them to not participate when a party is going on.

we will even be serving dinner of many donated goodies, including what has been referred to as my famous barbeque chicken.

of course, fabulous raffle prizes including artwork, dinners, bodywork, tattoos, and of course tickets to the festival. We hope to get at least six tickets to raffle off to those in need.

this may not be 10 boring things about me but it is how i have been filling my boring live lately. i hope to take lots of pictures too... so keep posted on facebook.
for more information go to https://www.facebook.com/events/172567396214636/

SATURDAY, MARCH 9TH, EL RIO BAR... 3-8PM

I love us all......

Wrinkles - quick the Duke - Maryland game is on and fantastic!

Never mind, I totally jinxed it. It all went south and became a rout.

-Red, Duke was one of my pre-season final four picks, but that knee injury to their point guard - ouch!
-Monday night (espn 2) it's Baylor vs. Uconn (tough to root for either one, but a close game would be great).
-maybe when they release the festival line-up in March the bb traffic will pick up
-hard to believe spring is barely over a month away
-though so far it's been a very tame winter (Trixie would have hated our weather this season. Maybe two weeks with snow on the ground and an average temp. in the 40'S.)

!!! Where do you live??? We've had a decent winter here in the Detroit area. I'd like more snow on the ground, but the temps have been winter-appropriate for the most part and I am happy.

Also, if you know anyone selling a car in Southeast Michigan, let me know! My Jeep died after only 5 months :(

- Aw Trixie, I am not a fan of Jeeps, but really five months is not fair. I hope your next vehicle lasts five years at least.

- Wrinkles the Baylor Uconn game was hard to watch, I was meh about both teams and watching Greiner just is not fun. I think the sport will be better after she graduates, or at least for me, more fun to watch.

- Retired in 16 days, my office at work is just about empty and it is boring as hell.

- My office at home is full of boxes, it will take me forever to sort through and throw or give away crap.

- Driver crew at fest this year, extended short crew. Excited. Spending a lot of time planning and day dreaming.

- Wrinkles I think everyone has moved over to Facebook, I do not think much will happen here even when the line up comes out. I check every few days to see if anyone posted anything and double check the count down with my own clock. And look at the pictures. And talk BB with you.

- One of my retirement hobbies will be going to Pride events. Since I really have only been to one (Memphis) and mostly likely will be limited to one or two a year it should last me many years into the future. Gather opinions as to where to go and a list of people to stay with.

- I used to worry about what to do with myself in retirement, now I know I will be busy doing whatever I damn well please.

-I live in N.E. Ohio (technically the snow belt) and though it's cold/snowy out today, this winter has been balmy, though maybe i did exaggerate a little.
-Red, i absolutely agree with you about Greiner. I respect her as a player and for her hard work, team work and talents. But give me the "short" womyn's game any day.
-I'd much rather watch a player like Simmons on Tenn, even if her shot selection from game-to-game is enough to put grey in the hair. (Though she has improved from last year, i don't know how sometimes her coaches keep from benching her when she puts up forced shots and fails to make the extra, smart pass.)
-But the big basketball news around where i live is the H.S. girls team plays for their divisional championship this Saturday. Should be a great game with a rockin filled gym of supportive city fans and families.
-Cleveland Pride, so so: Atlanta pride, pretty fun and colorful; NYC and Toronto Prides, fantastic! (imho)
-This is what i can't quite wrap my head around when it comes to facebook and womyn who attend the festival: I thought we were suppose to be anti-corporate, radical, outsider, underground, separatist, 'don't feed the man", feminists? (admittedly, little to none of which i am). How does facebooking fit in to this?? (ok, i don't like it because facebook mines and stores personal information and i'm basically genetically programed to divulge as little of that as possible to all but my closest confidants.)
-I also think some of the difficult polarization that has occurred over these last few years has been egged on due to some of the ways facebook is "socially" used; and also it makes it so much easier for people to splinter apart and avoid difficult dialogues. (they can just take their "friends" and go).
-But i don't hold it against people not posting here. It just seems that not doing so leaves this official Festival site so spares for new people who might be checking out Michfest. And i don't think the Festival facebook page has anywhere near the community feel or quirkiness to it that the bb once had and could have again.(could you imagine a "chainsaw love" thread appearing there?) People don't seem to communicate on it with near the same depth or enthusiasm that they once felt comfortable expressing here. The look and layout to facebook is more about advertising to me; not about personal communication or community building. Admittedly, though i've never given it the chance or developed the habit.
-congrats on the extended crew time; if i understand your crew assignment correctly to be the off land transportation crew, you'll be very lucky with the Coord. She's excellent and a very hard, intense worker. (she won't ask of you more than she ever is willing to give, but occasionally she might ask extra of her workers when it comes to crunch time.)
- personally i picture you as someone who quite possible could end-up even busier after "retirement".

I liked my Jeep while I had...and while it was working LOL I'm looking now mainly at Tauruses...maybe a Saturn...

Red - so exciting about retirement yay! You will have plenty to keep you busy. You could do long crew!

Detroit Pride is pretty sweet, although I have never been to any other so I don't know how it compares lol

Wrinkles - there is a very different feel between the bb and facebook...I like the bb because it feels more like we are in festie space sharing festie stories. Facebook is more like injecting little bits of fest into normal life. Although I'm sure my friend count is over 50% festies now on facebook. I like that :)

My girlfriend is awesome. That's all.

oh oh! She won Red Wings tickets to the game tomorrow! She has never been to an NHL game before! I'm excited but also kind of nervous because I've never been to a game with someone who doesn't know more about hockey than I do. I feel all obligated to know all the details and rules so I can explain everything during the game LOL

Festival is getting closer every day! I can't wait to see the line up.

Red-congrats on your upcoming retirement. I can only recommend it. A friend of mine that retired before me, always said to me that she didn't understand how she found time to work. I can only say, i have the exact same experience. Although, most folks don't understand that and wonder, what do you do all the time......

spring is finally coming, it's staying light later. That makes me really happy. the ground is finally starting to thaw. now if the clouds would just lift. we have had so little sun this winter season. i'm ready for winter to end.

i hope the traffic here on the bb picks up soon. i'm not a facebook person.

i bought our plane tickets. one step closer.
